We want to add a wheel cover to protect the new autopilot and gps. A custom one would cost over $300, so I've started to learn to sew. First project- winch cover kit from Sailrite. Each cover is coming out better than the last though a basic home sewing machine is not really suited for this type of canvas work. The wheel cover will likey need some additional umph.

Sailing in Holland Michigan
Rozinante didn't make the trip (no wind for crossing) but we rented a Hunter 27 in Holland. Beautiful day sail with Madison, Sue, and Chuck.

20 knots and 6 footers
Got to try sailing with reef. Again impressed with how the boat handled it. Saw the boatpics.com helicopter and hoping they got some good ones.
Sheila and Ann
June sail with Sheila and the "fender wench" Ann. Had a great time with some good wind. Never seen the lake so blue... Plus great food onboard- thanks guys er gals.
May sail with Ron and Tom
Ron and Tom's first venture on the new boat. Raced a J105 to the Wilson crib and with Tom at the helm we were able to keep up. Was a great sail.
Repairs and Upgrades
Had a few problems with the boat that were fixed in May...
Upgrades
- Engine starter panel - Boat wouldn't start after 3rd sail. Turns out the ignition wires were attached to the harness with masking tape! The tape was charred and I rewired the entire panel
- Running lights not working. Opening the main electrical panel also revealed the need for rewiring.
Upgrades
- Autopilot - Had an early version of a Autohelm 4000 system w/ belt drive worn out. Replaced with new Raymarine X5. Will also want to upgrade existing Signet knotmeter and depthsounder to "talk" with the autopilot
- Added a nice marine kettle grill to the stern rail. It's great
- Added jacklines, harnesses, docklines, and started running rigging replacement
Enroute from Waukegan to Montrose.
15 knot winds, 50deg F, and 6 foot waves. Averaged 6 knots. Rozinante handled very well! We were cold as heck and went through a torrential downpour but loved every minute of the new boat.
First Sail - April 29 2012
Start of the shakedown cruise with Steve.
From Larsen Marine - Waukegan to the new slip at Montrose Harbor in Chicago
