We want to add a wheel cover to protect the new autopilot and gps. A custom one would cost over $300, so I've started to learn to sew. First project- winch cover kit from Sailrite. Each cover is coming out better than the last though a basic home sewing machine is not really suited for this type of canvas work. The wheel cover will likey need some additional umph.
Hi Jim:
ReplyDeleteI guess September didn't work out for a trip East. Maybe this Spring?
Nautical Wheeler (I call her Nauti) probably went on her last sail for the season yesterday. I love her.
Nauti now has PVC-inspired roller furling and a Genoa.
Seven years ago I had to make repairs to my Sabre's Genny's UV protection and "learned" to sew. Take a look at EBay-I bought (for less than $100) an old, hefty Pfaff 332 sewing machine which keeps on working.
